Apple has released free software updates for iLife ‘11 customers, improving the experience with two of the five applications that comprise the suite. iMovie 9.0.1 improves stability and fixes minor issues, while GarageBand 6.0.1 does pretty much the same thing, only it also resolves some compatibility problems.

According to a technical note posted by Apple, iMovie 9.0.1 improves stability and fixes other minor issues, including:

- Fixes an issue where stabilization would not be applied correctly to some video clips from iPhone and iPod touch.- Fixes an issue that prevented use of some valid Facebook passwords that contained non-alphanumeric characters.- Improves compatibility with some cameras that create content in multiple formats.- Improves performance when scrolling the Project Library.

Apple claims iMovie 9.0.1 is recommended for all users of iMovie 9.0.

iMovie is Apple’s proprietary video editing application which allows Mac users to edit their own movies.

A feature-limited version is also available for Apple portables including iPhone 4, and iPod touch 4th generation.

GarageBand 6.0.1, as noted above, improves overall stability, and addresses compatibility and a number of other minor issues, Apple claims.

Specifically, the release fixes an issue related to undoing Flex Time edits, removes occasional latency that can occur on guitar tracks, and restores the ability to use the Quantize Note Timing menu for tracks with Groove Matching.

As with the iMovie update, this new version of GarageBand is recommended for all GarageBand '11 users.
